App design

Read To Kids is a digital reading app that promotes reading to children across India and Africa. Part of the Worldreader foundation, it seeks to expand literacy skills by giving access to an online library of free books. I worked as part of the product team responsible for the design of the app and user-experience strategy. I worked closely with a team of project managers and digital agencies based in India, to research, user-test and analyse the current app. I travelled to New Delhi in India to accompany the team and observe real users out in the field for first-hand feedback and the usability testing.

The task was to optimize the current reading app by creating a clear and simple interface, introducing more colourful and playful graphics, and to create an engaging experience that encourages regular use of the app.

I led the UX work, producing all major design deliverables. Several new features were added including popular books and favourites, that was iterated alongside a push-notification campaign designed to motivate parents to read with their children.
